About us
Julie Gates is an entrepreneur and real estate investor in Savannah, GA. Julie owns Sid Was Here, which specializes in Short Term and Long Term Rental Management and also real estate sales. Julie was recently featured in the book for Bigger Pockets, The 30 Day Stay. Julie started Sid Was Here to manage her own rentals. Investors started asking for management services and she soon found a niche working with furnished rentals. Julie is also a licensed real estate agent with Remax. Sid Was Here provides full service sales and management services all over the Savannah area. Sid Was Here and our licensed affiliates can handle the purchase, rehab and constant care of a property, from the guest management all the way through to the pest control and lawn care. Out of state investors will find a well vetted set of vendors at their disposal when choosing to work with Sid Was Here. In addition to her other activities, Julie runs the local investor meetup for the Savannah area, called Cashflow Savannah Meetup. This group meets monthly and all activities are free.

Julie and her team have been nothing short of amazing. They were given an impossible task on an even more impossible deadline and made it happen like it was an everyday thing. When roadblocks popped up, they always had an answer. Attention to detail, check. Communication - supurb. Kindness - you bet. As an investor, you couldn't find someone with more knowledge and skill to help you meet your goals. I'm very lucky to have been paired with Julie and her team and hope that this is the start of a long investing journey together. Thank y'all!!

Absolutely incredible experience. We are seasoned investors and were blown away by the knowledgable team. This is a one stop shop from buying cash flowing properties, setting up and property management. Finding a company that is knowledgable and skilled at all three facets is a rare find. Julie went above and beyond and can not recommend enough.

Worst management company in the Savannah area. Julie will get you in the door initially and her very well spoken conversations with make you feel at ease. After onboarding, don’t expect to ever hear from her again. She didn’t even give me a contact to address if there were any issues. Just the office number. This office is not local… it is a virtual assistant.
The communication with guests is also very poor. They said the pool was available when it was not. This resulted in a less than stellar review.
The cleaning has been terrible! Also resulting in poor reviews. Even months later after I had tried to address it before it is terrible.
Do yourself a favor and seek elsewhere for good management. This is not it.

The condo was immaculate and even nicer than the pictures. The host provided detailed instructions and was very responsive when we reached out. The location was wonderful, not far from town and places to eat but far enough away to have privacy and quiet. Highly recommend!

My family and I and our 2 fur babies stayed here. The host was very responsive and answered all questions we had. The place is very lovely and as pictured. We had the oppurtunity to relax and unwind and enjoy each others company. Plenty of board games for the children. The house was spacious and everything that we expected it to be. We will definanlty stay her again.

I have purchased a mix of over 30 investment properties with Julie and her team. The incredible value add of this team is hard to overstate. Julie and her team bring a depth of market knowledge, investment understanding, advice, and insight that I have been unable to find elsewhere. This is combined with a integrity and a high level of customer service. Why would I use anybody else? Why would you?

Julie knows every street in and around Savannah. She helped me buy my first rental property and went to bat for me with all the parties involved, all while giving me an invaluable education about this market and investing in general. She’s an investor herself and very familiar with short term, medium term, and long term rentals having done all of them herself. If you are looking to invest in or around Savannah Julie is simply the best!

We stayed in the renovated Irish Bar hosted by Sid Was Here and it was incredible! This is THE spot to stay in for St. Patrick’s day. Two couples traveling together - we were feet from the parade route, and the rest of the city was very walkable. Beautiful, historic, spotless - it’s also across the street from two trolley stops. We had a blast and cannot wait to come back.
