I have been a tenant for over a year now and have not had any issues until now. I recently had an unpleasant experience with Jacob McGowen (the property manager). On Wednesday January 8th I received a phone call from him regarding a complaint. I was not rude or disrespectful to him in any way, as I tried to explain the cause of the situation, he interrupted and spoke over me. He told me that he did not care. That the issue was not his or anyone else' problem. That I was wasting my time. I was left in shock. He was so rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. I then called again later wanting to make a complaint about the interaction, he answered. When I asked politely if there was anyone else, I could speak to, he told me no. Apparently, he sent out a notice to my email regarding the topic. I then asked if he could tell me which email he sent it to, and responded, "no I’m driving”. I HAVE NOT received any emails other than warnings regarding cold weather and rent payments coming up. He was initially trying to contact my mother, and I am so glad he only got to speak to me. I do not know what I would have done if ANYONE spoke to my mother the way he spoke to me. We pay our rent on time and have never given anyone an issue. I am not sure if it is because I am a female, or because we are Hispanic, but his dismissive tone and lack of professionalism has guaranteed that I will not be renewing my lease. This interaction was so unpleasant and left me feeling undervalued as a tenant, which was disappointing given that we’ve otherwise enjoyed living here. I believe tenants deserve respectful and professional communication no matter what the situation is.

Only company I’d let manage my property’s. Always available when needed and take care of any issues with ease. Always fast to get properties occupied with highly vetted, good tenants. They set the standard in property management.

We posted a maintenance issue over 5 months ago when we moved in. This issue is still yet to be fully resolved. We have been ignored constantly, and now I'm being treated poorly for having to ask multiple times about this issue. I'm sure there are better property management companies out there, as this one manages terribly.

Worst possible application process. We are a Christian business owners in the area. We applied to a property that has been sitting for nearly 3 months! Poor owners. We were doing a corporate lease beings that land we are purchasing is under contract. We can’t have any thing pulled personally. They first couldn’t “find” our business credit — when Ford was able to pull everything just fine for our corporate cars. We offered other EIN’s as we have multiple companies. They said that was too much work to get into a whole new application. Than had us practically doing all the work for the current one. Guys, I called the IRS and had documents faxed directly! The lack of communication is insane (ex: photos of gap communication.) I even left voicemails where the agent replied, “I never check my vm honestly.” (What agent doesn’t check their vm). We constantly had to text, call, and follow up if our financials were even reviewed. (Which they were not) They didn’t follow up with any of our references. I feel so bad for the owners. Not only do they have a house sitting, but it continues to get lowered in rent. In vegas we call that a hold tactic. Holding the property from good tenants with the hopes that the owner potentially sells. It’s a super shady way to do business if that’s what is happening, not saying it is but it’s interesting that the house is still sitting. Who knows. Any way … I ended up finding the owner on linked in a few days ago. I introduced myself in excitement because I saw no way we would be denied with our track record and financials. We never get denied (not saying this to seem entitled, but when people talk to our references and see who we are, they always feel confident to do business with us.) Things took a turn today (yes long time line. Which is crazy) when the company tried to strong arm us for more cash. We declined and left it to God. Needless to say I was contacted with the most aggressive phone call and rather than ask why? Or a time line of when I reached out. The lead agent was going crazy on me. There is a way to properly address people, ask the proper questions, understanding the perspective of the client. Had he taken the time to have a civilized conversation, he would have gained the knowledge that I was simply excited, and had no ill intent. Maybe I was wrong, but goodness who doesn’t look up who they are going into business with. What was wrong was the manner of which he carried himself on the phone call. I have never been spoken too so disgustingly. Also, what kind of company would continue to lower prices mid application with a perfectly good tenant (had they actually done their jobs in researching us.) We have rented a office in the area perfectly fine (far more serious application as well)… yet this process was torture. Im writing this as a warning to owners…. You’re almost better off renting it yourself when someone isn’t taking your livelihood seriously. Renters — best of luck in communication. It’s rated a 3 for a reason. We prayed about the property and God closed doors & revealed huge character- business flaws with the company.

I have used Five Star to manage my rentals for many years. They were always able to answer my questions, resolve my issues right away. During the pandemic period, my tenant was not able to pay rent. They made every possible effort to reach an agreement with the tenant to catch up the rent at last. The vendors they use have reasonable price. They can always find tenants in a short period of time. I would highly recommend them for your property management in Vegas.
