DIY: Five Easy Home Renovation Tasks You Can Do Yourself

Small 1395777251 Diy Home Improvement

Not all home improvement projects involve a great amount of work. Although some require a professional, it’s not as tough as you may think to make your home the beautiful abode that you deserve to live in. Here are some tasks that you can start working on yourself:

1. Throw on a coat of paint

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint to give your home a new look. Whether you’re changing the palette of your room or repainting your door the same beautiful color you fell in love with years before, painting isn’t too difficult to master if you learn what to do beforehand. Gather all of your materials, cover your floors for protection and give your walls a few even coats of paint.

2. Treat wood surfaces

Who doesn’t want gorgeous surfaces that shine in their home? Once you know the basics, you can clean the wood surfaces in your home safely. Since wood is porous, you don’t want to soak it in water. That’s a sure way of damaging it. Instead, use a polish treatment you can make at home that’s one part white vinegar and one part olive oil.

3. Improve indoor air quality

You spend a good deal of time in your home. Make sure you and the ones you love are breathing quality air. Change your air filters regularly. Be diligent about leaving bathroom fans while you shower and keep it on for 20 minutes afterward. Clean the sheets and pillows cases weekly to get rid of dust in the bedrooms, and clean comforters and duvet covers monthly.

4. Install a ceiling fan

It’s nice to turn on a ceiling fan. It’s useful and decorative. To begin, you need to measure the ceiling slope. Then, you want to turn off the power and knock out the old electrical box. Next, you’ll place the existing wire through your cable clamp, secure the new box and attach the hanger bracket for your fan. Carefully, assemble the fan and connect the wiring.

5. Spruce up your garden

A garden can become your retreat if you treat it well and make it your own. Clean out the debris that gathers in your flowerbed due to storms and wind. Plan out what you would like to grow and plant the bushes or flowers that inspire you. Place a pretty bench beside your garden so you can sip your tea and read a great book in the morning.

With some planning and tips in hand, these improvements can breathe new life into your home. Make your house exactly what you want it to be. Go on and get to work!
