The house meter is for consumption not specific to the individual units...such as exterior lights, power to the washer and dryer, sprinkler system, outside hosebib etc...If existing water lines are behind walls, under slab, it is going to be impossible.Also, if you separate electric but not water, and your water heater is electric, make sure you are not supplying hot water to unit B on a branch of a line powered by unit A's electric.

Water main is out, or worse, bad water, you may have folks pull out on you.Community emergencies, gas main blow up, rail road derails, mandatory evacuations, while these things usually only last days, it can change opinions of some tenants to leave.Then, if your building does get cleared for an issue, will you have new occupancy inspections?

I also stressed to the broker my major concern was regarding the plumbing and I received no disclosure of any deficiency, past or present from the seller.As it turns out, it was discovered last week,mjust before I planned to close, that the seller had indeed made some major repairs to the plumbing, including sewer and fresh water lines connecting the chiller and boiler.
