A handyman charges about $20 per hour, it took you 10 minutes so you charge him $3.33 but you have to bill him and take a nasty phone call from him arguing that it wasn't his cat.

I am not familiar with local law, but given that the stove was provided at no charge previously, it could be argued there was an agreement for landlord to provide.If you are remodeling the kitchen, then maybe a good solution is to buy a higher quality stove that will look good in the new kitchen.
