hello,I recently won a property on hudson&Marshall.I know I should have done a title search, but I dropped the ball.

And half the BP community is writing out their congratulations to her.Start doing searches here and see how many long threads you find written by OPs who proudly state, "I LOST IT ALL IN REAL ESTATE!

Right now my partner and I are building our team and putting in some time in the streets learning neighborhoods, driving for dollars and networking with anyone we can get in touch with.

I'd like to hear about neighborhoods. 

Normally I suggest listening to the podcasts or reading the blog posts but it sounds like you've already go that covered :)As far as networking, Bigger Pockets has a great member search feature you could use to search for members in Rhode Island, then you could reach out to some directly.You could also attend a networking group in or near Rhode Island such as RIREIG or Black Diamond REI.

Is this neighborhood reasonably safe or is disaster around the corner. 

The reason why I am making this post is; one, to be more active in BP and two, find different ways people go about searching for markets and submarkets.

One popped up in my neighborhood and several people in the neighborhood informed code enforcement and they shut them down.If you and your wife are good with living in a smaller place to pay down your mortgage faster than that seems like a great idea to me.At some point in the future you could always move back into the main house and rent the smaller unit if you ever wanted to.
