Sorry, just saw the second property comment... if you own a primary residence that is an SFR, you'll find it very difficult or impossible to buy a duplex using an FHA loan unless you can prove the property will be owner occupied by some factor including location, job reloocation, or something of that nature.

Nothing impossible, it would just be the path of least resistance (electrical pun intended) for us to live in Unit 1.2) Unit 2 doesn't have access to that space, not a biggie, but still something we're taking into consideration.You are right though, this is only a temporary ordeal.

I can tell you that being built in 1900 if it had not been updated and modernized over the years the rehab costs would most likely be through the roof so if it is not in a great neighborhood I have a feeling there may not be much profit on this one, but with the limited information provided a detailed analysis is impossible.
