Ashley Sommer In my experience, the lender places more weight on your total household income as well as your longevity with your employer.

They don't have much longevity, but if I am doing my job and blogging often, I am hitting some into page 1 (for certain search terms) so I should get some traffic.

Appreciation, not in your case or bob's, but in many, many, many other people's cases serves as protection against stupidity; it supports longevity in this full-contact sport where there would otherwise be none considering the lack of perspective which is prevalent in REI today.  

The only thing that I could add is that the activity needs to be legitimate and there needs to be longevity.

I'll go out on a limb and say if you think there's no material difference in tenant quality, longevity, or appreciation from buying in a B+ neighborhood...then...don't buy in that neighborhood.
