Clean the head with vinegar , you have a clog .

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, it is said.

If its to tough to get off scrap off what is loose then apply 2 coats of polyurethane then mud and sand it smooth Or Simple hot water and vinegar to remove

Have you tried warm vinegar and baking soda yet?  

I use white distilled vinegar to descale it every 8 mo.
