To me the classic example is the ancient frozen pipe thread, or worse, broken off at the joint.

Steve, most of my nasty sewer adventures here have to do with dessicated 100-year-old crap in the ancient cast-iron lines of the old houses of the area.

New roof with sheathing (old tin-style shingles with purlins), new water heater, new electric panel with a lot of wiring, new kitchen & bathroom, and yet I still have ancient windows and old plumbing (on the plus side, someone before me had the foundation redone).

I don't care if the program just got implemented or if it's ancient.

better solution with your ancient boiler, get rid of the whole thing and install a gas forced air system.
