I read BP for several hours every day (broken up in pieces, but smartphones are a beautiful, terrible thing), and I regularly see people listing "freedom of my time" as one of their big motivations when it comes to RE investing.

You could set up a Google Voice phone number which will allow you to have a separate phone number for real estate (side hustle) related phone calls.By downloading the app on any smart phone, you will have the ability to use your regular phone for your day job while using the Voice app for anything else, and you can set up a separate answering machine message for when you're not able to answer.

Many of our tenants don't have bank accounts or access to the internet beyond smartphones - the primary benefits of adopting software seem to be to allow ACH rent payments, have a portal for maintenance requests that we can quickly get out to contractors, and avoid the phone ringing off the hook/having to stop by so many properties on a weekly basis.
