The bad is the city has an anti STR mindset with recently enacted lottery and quotas.  

I came from a very pro-labor, anti-capitalist family where "making a profit" or selling something for more then you bought it for was considered taking advantage of one's fellow man, and severely frowned upon.

If you wanted to create a different product with a different strategy then there will be different price points to reflect the different levels of risk, variability, and return desires you want.You run into risk purchasing a bad turnkey, but people also overlook you run into risk trying to do it yourself and that is my fear sometimes when people are 100% anti-turnkey as I have seen more people get into trouble trying to do something themselves when they really didn’t understand what they were getting into.

You've got a lot of green/granola/alternative types and type stuff and stores and restaurants, and you've got a lot of downsides to that -- homelessness, anti-government/anti-vaxxers/homeopathic types.

Here in NJ there is a state anti eviction statute that basically requires all leases be renewed at least on a month-to-month.

You selectively mention some inflammatory flash-points, like your wife having insecurities or being envious of time you spend taking care of your ill mother - while failing to emphasize any of your own faults or contributions to the relationship.
