You do need to be able to serve them, but if you don't have a real address or job address you can serve them at, you could hire a process server to find them and serve them.

I was just going to suggest ordering something, even if it's a $2 soft drink and a $3 tip for the server (if it's a casual restaurant) and maybe an app or salad (if it's a fancy place).
