Its almost a certainty that reliance on code will have a very negative impact somewhere along the way (markets, driving, automated home, etc etc.), an impact most people won't be able to easily live with despite the fact that its just part of the path forward.

I expect my rental portfolio to still be cash flowing wonderfully for me in 10-20 years, because I've bought in markets that have had consistent tourism and a long-term reliance on vacation rentals as part of the local economy, which long predates VRBO and AirBNB.
