Attention is The New Commodity

People’s attention is what we expect back when we put part of our profit into the marketing of our business, their attention is what gets us to success, giving us new sales, new clients, new opportunities and attention is what we should look for when promoting our business on social media.

Social media marketing isn’t about putting out plain daily content in hopes of getting few likes on a post and calling it a day, there should be a whole marketing strategy behind it and the main goal of it should be drawing the attention of the platform’s users.

And to make it easier to grasp what it means, let me bring an example of YouTube and how it’s users draw attention to their videos.

We all have heard about YouTube, it’s currently one of the biggest social media platforms out there and we use it daily to either educate or entertain ourselves, as well as promote our business. But did you know that more than half of YouTube’s users watch videos of channels that they aren’t subscribed to? This means that they are not interested in a specific channel or topic, but their attention was caught by the single video itself.

You can gain subscribers, buy them, ask people to follow you, but it won’t guarantee views on your videos. You will have to draw attention to every single one of them by putting eye-catching thumbnails on your videos, as well as interesting titles.

And that’s exactly how social media marketing works - no matter how much money you will put into that Facebook or Instagram ad, people will keep scrolling past it, if it won’t be able to catch their eye.

Start taking social media marketing seriously, put little bit more effort into it, start thinking about what could earn you peoples attention in your account, products, services and most importantly start working with professionals in this field who could guide through the possibilities of proper social media marketing and could assist you in them.
