Cancelled Contract - Title company billed me

Candice Samuel
Posted

Hi All,

I am new to wholesaling and had my first home under contract last month. Long story short... The neighborhood my home was in was tricky and I couldn't find a buyer.  I canceled  my contract within the inspection period.

This home was listed on the market so I actually worked with a realtor to get this going. I cancelled my contract about 2 weeks ago smoothly due to a land plot misreading. I never contacted the title company to preprare title, but I guess the realtor did. But now I'm being sent a $500 bill for title preparation. Am I responsible? Its seems when this was cancelled the title company may not have been notified right away.  Once again this is my first contract andany help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Am I responsible? And if so what could I have dont to avoid paying this bill?
