Wholesaling in Reno, NV

I'm 21 and work in the entertainment industry but have a lot of free time in the middle of the day often and I'm looking for something else to do. Wholesaling real estate is something that is very intriguing to me since it would allow me to be involved in real estate without having to become an agent and having a full-fledged career (I'm not looking for that).

I live in Reno, NV and in the past few years real estate prices have gone up across the board meaning that it's impossible to find wholesale deals that are dirt cheap like $20-50,000, the homes here that I've found would be at least $250,000. My thought is that maybe the higher prices could be an advantage since the spread isn't as noticeable. I could be wrong but it's just a thought.

I guess what I'm wondering is if wholesaling in Reno/Sparks worth it or a waste of time? There are some markets near me that I could probably find deals virtually such as some cities in the Central Valley but I would like to stay local at first.

Thanks in advance!
