Real Estate lawyer?
I’m needing advice how to tackle this problem. My childhood home was purchased by my grandparents as a rental property around 30+ years ago. My grandfather took over the sellers mortgage as apart of the deal; the issue I am having is I found out that mortgage payments were stopped about 7 years ago. I am 99% confident that the loan was not fully paid off. The bank that owns the loan will not talk to me since the loan is in someone else’s name (the seller my grandfather did the deal with) despite me being listed on the deed.
I am unsure if I should contact a real estate lawyer or another professional. Something is not adding up since it has been so long since the last payment. I’m surprised the bank has not tried to take the house by now.
I did not want to add too many details to keep this post short but I am happy to add pertinent information! Any advice is much appreciated!
