Insight into Commerce, Tx market?

Hector Sandoval
Posted

Hi all,

We are a new group looking into different Texas markets and are wondering if anyone can offer any opinions on Commerce, Tx. It's a small town with a college that has recently entered D1 status and looks intriguing for a possible futures play. We are thinking it's a good area to get our feet wet buying and holding a lot until we are able to build or sell. Any information or tips are welcome! TIA!

    Hi Hector,

We have a duplex in Commerce a bike ride away from campus. The hard thing with commerce is the property taxes are higher and some areas aren't that great. I would say our tenants so far have been a mix between students and local families. I definitely see a lot of growth in the future as the university has been pouring money into infrastructure on campus and student housing as well as you said the D1 status. Hope this is helpful!
