I am 19 years old, should I consider going to BPCON2022?

Question

Hey everyone, I’ve been heavily into biggerpockets ever since reading Brandon’s book on rental property investing at an airport back in late January which introduced me into BiggerPockets and the many podcasts they offer. As the title states, I am 19 and was thinking about booking a ticket to go to BPCON this year in California, but I’d be going by myself and I know I’m pretty young compared to the other people that might be going there and was wondering if I should still consider going!

I haven't attended a BPCON personally but I don't think your age should matter much unless there are a lot of activities in a drinking environment that you wouldn't be able to attend without a chaperone.  Networking and learning is a good idea at any age.  People might be even more interested in talking to you to find out what the 19 year old investor is up to. I say go for it! It seems like an asymmetrical bet if your pondering the cost-benefits of attending.

If you can afford the ticket, travel, and lodging without putting it on credit, then I say yes.

Absolutely. This would be a great opportunity to expose yourself to a lot of like minded people and learn a lot. The best investment you can make is in yourself.

You should definitely go if that’s what you want. Your age shouldn’t be a factor. Speaking from experience (even though I was 31 when I went), it can feel a little intimidating when you meet people who are doing multi-million dollars deals multiple times a year and you only have knowledge and a couple of SFH deals under your belt, but it shows you that it’s possible with a little bit of guts and determination.

Plus I got a ton of books at a discount and got to meet Tarl Yarber who gave me some great advice.
