Interested in buying a home in the DMV

Cami Danielle
Posted

Hi!

I'm new to the Bigger Pockets community. I am really interested in buying a two-family residential home in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas. My partner and I are first-time home buyers.

We don't really have a timeframe for buying the home, but we're willing to move fast if we come across something that we really love. We realize that it's a sellers' marker in the DMV, but we're willing to adapt to the ever-changing market.

Would love to talk to a realtor and property manager that specializes in College Park, Silver Spring, Upper Marlboro area!

@Samir Patel - we love NOVA, but everything seems to be a bit out of our budget there – which is 400-450K. Would definitely love to connect and see if there are any other potential options

@Russell Brazil - That’s a great point. I think we’re looking for a single family property, but with the option of renting the basement out based on the zoning laws of that specific location

Silver Spring  (and Montgomery County in general) you can if it meets certain criteria. PG County you can not, though you can still have roommates in PG if you stay under the occupancy limits. Basement rentals/ADUs only allowed in MoCo, DC, and Arlington. (Fairfax for elderly, Alexandria possibly soon in future)
