How to Find Owner's Information of a Vacant House in Brooklyn, NY?

Question

Hello BP friends,

I did drive for dollar and came across different vacant houses in Brooklyn, NY.

I looked up at Street Easy and Advanced Background Check and I found the owner's name (for some of the houses) but I'm trying to locate their current address so I can send  them a yellow letter, any suggestions?

I went to Acris, clicked on Party Name (search by party name) and I found the information about the property (Block, Lot, CRFN, etc) but I don't see the current address of the owner.

Any help would be great!

Go to the DOF website and look for the property tax bill. Fill in the block and lot and you should be able to see the latest bill. Don't know if that will get you the owner's current whereabouts but better than nothing.

To find owners of vacant properties first check the tax assessors website. If the taxes are paid to a person living at the address, you have hit a dead end. Your next best step would be to skip trace the person.  Find someone on BP with a accurint account you can team up with.

I just signed up for a microbilt membership to find more vacant sellers. I thought it was interesting that you use Findtheseller, tlo, and microbilt. Why the need for all three of these?

@Andrew Wilson  I'll call the tax assessors office tomorrow morning. When I went down there last week, they weren't very helpful but I'll try again.

You are going to probably have to dig further. If the county does not have a tax bill mailing address there is a good chance the the owner is MIA and way behind in taxes (at least in my cases). These are very good leads as long as the tax bill is not crazy high.

Your best bet is to get a legit skip tracing software. Findtheseller, tlo, and microbilt are the ones I use.

Presuming you do not have MLS access, try using RealQuest Pro by Corelogic. You can get the owner name and mailing address plus a lot more useful information about the property.

Hey Roy I usually call the local tax assessors office to get addresses. As a matter of fact I sent out a letter on Tue. and in today (Thursday) I got a response, unfortunately the bank has the property back. I often find find that this is the case that the assessors office don't have the  current owner as the bank. But it is a good start in the right direction. Keep plugging along you'll get a few. Closed in time, then it will be a normal thing.
