What to do when called a "bottom feeder" at landlord/tenant court?

I went to tenant/possession court today.  My goal was to determine if it is a good method of finding disillusioned landlords who would want to sell their properties and get out of being a landlord.  I had some time to spend with the judge, bailiff, and other employees who were VERY helpful and shared some helpful experiences with me.

At the end of the session, as I was leaving, the judge said bye and good luck determining whether or not I wanted to go this route with investing.  Another couple leaving the court asked why I had come to observe and I told them.

The man looked at me and said, "that is genius" and a couple seconds later his wife/gf/?  said, "you're a total bottom feeder."

I laughed and explained why that isn't bottom feeding and that I wouldn't be coercing anyone to sell, but wanted to see if that was an effective method of find people who already wanted out.

How would you have replied?
