Evictions during COVID

Andrew Korcek
Posted

Hello BP friends,

I have had a lot of people interested in my house for rent, that were evicted during covid. One of them said they were only given a notice of eviction. Everyone says they lost their jobs and couldn't pay rent.

How legitimate is this? Wasn't there lots of programs in place during that time to help with rent?

Would you rent to someone was evicted during covid, or given notice of eviction?

Thank you!

Andrew

there was lots of money as Richard said.  I'd look at when they lost their job and when they started their current job.  There are lots of jobs out there.  Did they not bother getting a job for months on end all while living in the rental and not paying rent-I'd avoid them.  Or were they out of a job for 1-2 months and got back on their feet.

With evictions being allowed again, my guess is you will have a lot of people who haven't been paying rent for a long period of time while they were working and sorry, but I wouldn't rent to those type of people.

Talk to their previous landlord.  Notice of eviction means there was something warranting an eviction notice.
