Hiring a bookkeeper for multiple businesses

What's up BP -

I am looking to hire a bookkeeper to manage my books for my development, construction & personal rental portfolio. I am a numbers guy and have been very reluctant to delegate this out, but it is finally getting to the point where it is just eating too much of my time. I currently am using Quickbooks Pro across all of my different entities. Any suggestions on how to locate the perfect person for this job and tips on how to onboard this person smoothly or anything to avoid?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the detailed response. I also have had issues in the past with coding incorrectly … how did you pick the bookkeeping agency you are using and would you recommend them?

There are plenty of accountants/bookkeepers here in BP.

One of my clients is using QBO Pro for multiple entities and it is exactly like yours: Development, Construction and rentals. However, his rental is with a PM company. I work closely with my client's personal assistant and advise how things should be recorded. I have a project management platform that I use with my clients so I can be more organized with the tasks that needs to be done and with timeline.

You will definitely want someone that knows development to handle your books.
