Newbie Dallas Investor looking to network and learn

Hi all,

Glad to have found bigger pockets and start my investing journey. I've recently committed to stop talking about it and start taking action towards my "Landlording" dreams. In October 2019 My wife and I decided to stop running the rat race and sold our single family home. At that time we weren't sure if we wanted to get into real estate or just pay off debt and buy our dream home, so we used the money made to pay off a chunk of debt.

After months of going back and forth we have decided to whole heartedly pursue the real estate route. We are currently paying $4-6k per month towards debt and will have everything paid off by December 2020 - January 2021. Covid put us behind a few months but we are still pushing forward!

Once our debt is paid off we will have an extra $5-7k per month to save/invest. The goal is to purchase a multifamily property in the spring of 2021 and house hack. I would like to do an FHA (or conventional if possible) and put down 5%. Ideally we would like to rehab/update 1 side to move into and then rehab/update the other units prior to renting them out. I'm still learning and soaking up the knowledge on how to best approach this but i wanted to introduce myself and hear from some experienced local investors.

Please feel free to share your favorite books, youtube channels or other favorite follows on social media platforms. I'm currently reading Seven Years to Seven Figures, just starting BRRRR Investing, listening to Set for Life on audible and watching Brandons Webinars weekly.

If there are any "socially distanced" meetups or Zoom meetups, I'd be highly interested in attending. I'm very excited to start this journey and look forward to meeting everyone.
