Spokane REI meet up, who's interested?

I've been interested in hosting a BP REI meet up for a while now and wanted to gauge the interest in the community as well as understand what people would like to get out of the meet ups.

Proposed format:

- The meet ups will be about 1-2 hours long once a month at my office in downtown Spokane. Refreshments will be provided.

- I'll open by covering the latest developments in the Spokane market such as the number of recent sales, average transaction values, number of days on market, etc.

- I also have a local lender who has offered to assist with the meet ups who can come in to discuss the latest developments in loans and the issues he is seeing day in day out, as well as rate developments, etc.

- From there I'd love it if attendees with different specializations such as hard money lenders, contractors, property managers, newbies, veteran investors and everybody in-between could present for 10-15 minutes on a topic of their choosing that could then be discussed so everyone can learn from each other.

- Finally a live deal analysis conducted by a different attendee every month so we can learn from each others methods.

Whilst the meet up will be hosted by me (a Realtor) & a local lender these meetings aren't intended to be a sales pitch for our respective services, they are intended to be a consistent time and place for local, like minded people to get together and talk real estate.

Let me know your thoughts below in terms of whether you're interested in a monthly event like this and also what format you'd like for it to take.

Hey @Phil Wells, it's good to have more options for meetups. So far, many great Spokane meetup options can be found at www.reinetworking.net
My recommendation would be to find a time that isn't currently offered - like a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Best of luck, I'll come if my schedule allows!

I'm interested as well.  I've been 'trying' to buy an investment property for over a year - 2020 is the year to take the plunge.

That's a great response in quite a short space of time, thank you for all your responses.

Can anybody comment on the proposed format? Would people be comfortable presenting on topics and engaging with the group so we can all learn from other insights, mistakes, expertise, etc?

I want to avoid a format where I just talk at a room for an hour and everyone leaves and never comes back!

In terms of timings I was thinking 6-8 or 7-9 on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening - how do people feel about those times?

Your format is great. If you attend the Coeur d'Alene REI this week, you can get a good feel for how it's run and what has worked well for that one for the last ~5 years. I'm sure @Nick Beveridge would be glad to share his insight on what has worked well for him since he started it.

I think 6 or 6:30pm start time is probably best. 7pm is pushing the end time a bit late in my opinion.

Firmly agree with @David Clinton III, 6pm better than 7.

I attended my first LLA meeting this month and I felt review of current state of affairs and a speaker or two on targeted topics was helpful. too many people for an intimate networking session but i'd like to see that too... maybe a quick around the room intro of your current state of REI affairs and what you want to get out of the meeting. but I am a newbie with a single REI and a new tenant literally moved in on that home yesterday!

@Phil Wells I would be in. 6-8 would be best, and ideally not on the same week as some of the other local meetups.
