what paint colors and finishes?

Question

What paint color and finishes are you all using for interiors?  Is everyone tired of grey yet?    I need to tell my contractor what to use!  Is there a standardized list of finishes you all use?

@Lisa Martin, I am a little biased because my wife is a designer.  But I will just ask this: are you trying to create something unique or just a run of the mill flip house?

White is still a safe bet, generally, and buyers still like it, but I would plan on something to make it stand out amongst all the other flips that may be on the market.

I'm still doing them all accessible beige which is a greyish beige and it is still popular here.  For finish I'm looking for ease of turns and touchup.  When you are trying to touch up paint the actual color stays true for quite a while it is the sheen that fades over time.  Because of this I use flat since you can touch it right up and not have to worry about it.  Behr has a scuff defense paint that I like and it seems to hold up well to a magic eraser and touches up extremely easy.  This was a hack a painter friend gave me and has saved me a ton of time and money.  I have 6 rentals and this is the color for all the walls, I buy it by the 5 gallon bucket.

Anything but grey. White is in which I hate. My contractor paints all of mine white. No contrast with white baseboards but white is in now. Lol

Best way to find out is to tour local rehabbed properties in the area, at open houses or look at them on zillow, realtor.com, etc, and/or just go to the local paint store or the one you will be buying the paint from and ask them what people are using. They are providing the paint to a lot more houses then individual investors. They are the hub for current color trends.

Whites and off whites are pretty popular. Sherwin Williams is the brand I recommend. Matte and flat are also the hardest to clean.

White works!  Depending on the lighting, either warm or cool.

Revere Pewter. Flat for bedrooms / living rooms and semi-gloss for bathrooms and kitchens. That's my go to color. I know many people use an off while as well. I love it, it always comes out great and attacts a broad range of demographics.

If you are selling, they will paint over it anyway. ;-) You just want to get them in the door so they fall in love with the floor plan and the kitchen.Neutrals sell best. Accent walls can turn off prospective buyers. You don't want to try to second guess what they like. For rentals, allow them a choice of an accent color if they ask.
