His original Distressed Property Newsletter was outstanding, accurate and exceptionally informative. It's been out of print for twenty years or more.

It was only when he ventured into late night TV commercials that his Free & Clear stuff got him into trouble (probably because people had to get out of their pajamas and actually go do something).
