Message for new investors in Durham, Wake, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, etc.

Several years ago, I took 3 different real estate investing classes through Wake Tech. Two were excellent, and one was a train wreck (unless you like hearing a teacher repeatedly try to get you to rent his mountain property).

Anyway, just got word that one of the excellent ones is being offered again this summer. It's continuing ed class #123069 at WakeTech.edu.

Course Title: Flip It...A Look Into Investing in Today's Real Estate Market

Course Summary: This course examines investment opportunities in real estate, including personal residences, rental properties, and "flips," and shows participants how to determine which investment are smart ones. Current homeowners will learn to evaluate their homes as investments, calculating value accurately, considering improvements to increase value and marketability, and exploring financing options. Novice investors who want to start slowly will learn about taking advantage of a depressed market for short and long-term gains. Extensive Q & A will be part of the class, as well as site visits to possible investment properties.

Meets: Tuesdays, Jun. 10, 2014 - Aug. 05, 6 - 9:00 PM at Main Campus

Price: 125

If it's still like when I took it several years ago, there was a ton of info crammed into each class meeting. It was also a good place to meet others trying to get into investing.
