Is PRO membership just as good for Canadians?

Question

I have decided to upgrade to Pro, but I just wanted to know if PRO is still just as valuable for Canadians, specifically in Toronto.

I have a plus membership mainly so I can post the meet-ups for the London group. Second to that is the unlimited saved calculator results, but I hardly use those because they look weird to Canadians (30 year fixed term?) so I can't present them to investors anyway.

I have pro membership for 3 months now. My rationale behind upgrade was to invest something so I can push myself to utilize it. Pro sign also show that you are serious. It also allow you to access webinar archieves. Pro forum however isn't as active as regular. Entire website is mostly focused on US market, but I think the general strategies work in Canada as well. I think it doesn't hurt to spend 30$ for atleast a month to see if its worth it for you

I upgraded to pro to get more use from the calculators, and for a few of the 'perks'. Calculators, so far, have given me a decent idea of how to vet a home. I am sure a lot of my assumptions, and numbers are still a bit off, but at least it is a starting point. Once I am a bit more sure of the numbers I will probably create an excel sheet, to speed up the process. It seems our financing options a more limited 'creatively' than those in the states, so the math will also be more limited.

Book on low and no money down has some good information (such as Joint ventures) but a lot of the options are less useful in Canada. So far, the podcasts, and forums have given me the best information with lots of helpful folks here. I did 1 of the guru classes which was focused on Canada, ('cheep' at $1000) which had great information but I found very poor jumping off point. (I have however signed up for the Robert Kiyosawki free 2 hour 'intro course' on Friday in Kanada (Ottawa) Ontario on Friday if anyone else is going there).

Best think I would think would be to get active in the forums, try out the calculators to see how they work, if you are excel savvy, you could do up a base estimate sheet fairly quickly. Take all the info you can get, with the understanding there is a very US leaning information base. When you get more involved, and learn more, you can make the 'pro' decision much better.

Most of the Plus and Pro membership "perks" are very U.S.A. focussed - even the on-line calculators - and have less practical value to Canadians ... even those unfortunate enough to be stuck in the GTA ;-)

Some Plus/Pro features .. such as the search members by zip or postal code now work (sort of) for Canadians (polite nagging can pay off ).

If you are a flipper, or offer a real estate related service (architect, trade, etc), then the ability to post advertisements to the Real Estate Marketplace is a benefit.

I upgraded to a Pro membership early on to support the site and its growth as I found it to be a credible venue for exchanging knowledge and making contacts with respect to real estate.

At that time there were half-a-dozen active Canadians on the site, that number has now grown considerably - participation by more Canadians, makes the site more valuable to Canadians (and others who may choose to invest in Canada after November :-P )
