Is radon testing necessary?

Hello!

I am considering buying an investment property in Charlotte. My agent is suggesting that I get radon testing done as part of the inspection. Is this necessary?
If it does turn out that radon is found, what are my options? Would it be hard to sell the house if radon is found?

Thanks for all your advice.
