Here Come The Note Investing Guru's

Here we go, similar to all the STR guru's and Sub2 Guru's who have popped up, we are starting to see note investing guru's pop up all over the place as people are seeing an uptick in inventory. So I wanted to offer some feedback to people:

1. Yes you can start investing in notes with $5,000 BUT expect returns of 8-15%, so that $5,000 at best will make you $750. So paying a few grand for a course - not going to get you far. Yes those returns are correct, do not fall for the "make $250k in your first year with other peoples money scams", I will gladly open a casino and place bets on people who have never done notes and see how successful they are at raising money from investors.

2. Get referrals from them - ask them how many students they have and get referrals. Of course they will give you their best students but see what they provide.

3.  There is no "secret sauce" to this business. you do not need a list of 25 sellers, you will end up buying from one of three people and I can tell you right now who they are.

4. Most of this information I already provide for free. But if you want to get educated, ask about those people here on BP. There are some legit courses out there to learn from.

Concur...and on top of what Chris mentions I'll throw this in the mix.  BEWARE of the dreaded Shiny Object Syndrome (SOS)!!  Find one thing stick to it and be successful at it...stay the course.  Like Chris mentioned there a few "guru's" in the note space that have one goal in mind, "TO TAKE YOUR MONEY".  Do your background checks, meet them at a conference, build some trust with them and they with you before spending a dime of YOUR money,  I like to ask myself if this is someone that I can see having a beer with?  IF not, I usually run for the hills.
