Investing in Redford, MI

Hi all,

I've been a longtime lurker on this site taking in everyone else's knowledge.  I hope someday soon I can be a contributing member on these forums.  I need some opinions, so I figured its time for me to speak up and say hello.

I grew up downriver and my wife is from Redford.  I work and live in Livonia and I'm currently fixing up my first investment property in North Redford.  My plan is to grow a portfolio of about 10 rental properties in the Redford/Livonia area over the next few years.

Specifically, my plan was to stick to properties west of Beech Daly, but I've recently been given first dibs on 2 properties over by the golf course at 6mile and beech.  The properties themselves are turnkey and the neighborhood seems pretty well kept and safe.  But since this area wasn't in my plan I'm unsure what its like and what that area of Detroit is like just a block or two away. Do any of you invest in that area of Redford/Detroit?  And whats your opinion?
