Diy Countertops gone wrong!

Posted

Hey all!

Hoping to get some help!

So we have the old school white tile countertops. Our plan was to put a layer or 2 of grout over them and then epoxy. All was going well until our buddy gave us a bag of grout. He informed us it was the same as what we used (big mistake). It was a lot thicker but we figured it would be ok. Turned out there's more rocks in it than sand. So it started cracking and was ridiculously bumpy and thick. So we put a 3rd layer of grout over it and now it's still cracking.

has anyone worked with epoxy? Will it be okay to put the epoxy over it or do we need to fill the cracks with something?

Demo it and start new. This will never look good.
