I just wanted help with the process of getting permits too complete home renovations how do I go about it? And how can I learn about the overall process? All help and feedback is appreciated thanks in advance!!
Fill out the building permit application - most likely it is on the city website. If your remodeling draw a floor plan of the existing plan and provide a proposed plan. If there are new walls, electric, plumbing, heating, etc show all details. Your city nay require a licensed architect to prepare the drawings. It really depends on what your project is. If it’s your property you live in generally you can do the work yourself. If it’s an investment property you probably will be required to have licensed contractors and they will need to be licensed by the city. License means licensed and bonded. Check out the city website, it should give you all the details you need.

In Florida, it is the same. Unless it is your own residence, a contractor is required to get a permit. The idea is that the roof, etc., can collapse on yourself, but not on others. The government is protecting the public if they walk into your building.
