Can I offer my contractors worker comp insurance?

I have them to sign independent contractor contracts. and I am offering material and they bring their own tools.

Due to they don't have insurance, anyway I can buy and offer the worker comp insurace to them? would that be any potential issues?

Hell yes!  Any doctor that was willing to work without insurance must be pretty confident in his work...  :D

Larry, would you use your doctor for a surgery if you knew he had no insurance? would you drive your car regardless of how far you had to travel, knowing you had no insurance? its the same with using contractors! sorry, if your "contractors" dont have insurance, they are not contractors, they are friends with hammers and nails...

Richard, I actually pull the permit myself and have the contractors to do the job. but city inspector will inspect everything we done anyway.

good start. City wants license numbers. The GC's pulls a permit that allows plumbers and electrians to pull their respected permits from. Homeowner can pull permit to GC. Still doesnt waive liabilty if something goes wrong prior to an inspection. Think my point is, would you live in this house, with the work ethics for which you are looking to preform? If someone doesnt maintain insurance for their work practices, chances are they have nothing to take from when and if something goes wrong. I pay 13k in insurance per year, I can spend that in a heart beat, but I protect myself from anything and everything...

what if the work creates an issue? electrical burns down the house? plumbing fixture, floods the house? Will you sign an release if my attorney draws one up? Get what u pay for! Supply the material get lic and insured contractors to preform work. Not going to save money! Do it one or pay to have it done twice...

I heard we can sign a release liability to all the independent contractors, will that give some sort of protection to the owner?

Request a cert of insurance. If insurance is valid, guy shows up with a worker and no comp on certificate, throw em out, dont need an attorney for that! YOU will become liable for anything that happens to them or to the home... Buisness owners can be excluded from comp. in my state, as homeowners can do there own repairs. bottom line: no cert, no work. Be smart and pull permits too, it goes along way on the resale side

I am flipping the property. I would like to have some protection to myself and the contractors, they are independent contractors.
