Rant on HD store vs online pricing variability

I spend a lot of money at HD and I'm kinda annoyed. Needed a specific shower stall, saw on the website it was at the 2nd closest store to me, and went to get it. It was $30 more than I remembered. I figured maybe the price had changed in the couple of day since I looked it up, but when I got home I saw the price was the same. When I called the store for an explanation I was told "Homedepot.com has different prices than the store". So if I'd had purchased it online for store pickup I'd have saved the $30, but I had no way of knowing that before getting to the store. I told him that was a nasty and customer unfriendly policy, and got off the phone pissed.

There's stores like Costco where the B&M and online have very little to do with each other, but HD is very integrated. $30, a minor sum is not the issue. This should not be a thing. If they tell you a store has stock, it should be at the price you're seeing.
