Landscaping Choices on a Budget

I am looking for some ideas on improving the curb appeal of this property. First of all it's a rehab that will be going on sale soon:

I am considering what to do with both paint and landscaping. First i am planning on leaving the blue color of the house as is. The paint is in good shape and it is not an ugly color. I will paint the shutters black and the trim white.

What do you think?

Landscaping...

Other than obviously getting rid of the leaves I am not sure what to do. Should I keep the bushes along the front of the house?
Trim them or take them out or take some out leave the others?

I am not sure if I should plant anything new, if so, what and where?

Thanks,
