Can I work on property alongside 203K GC?

I recently had an offer accepted on a property that I will be using a 203K renovation loan on.  I can do a lot of my own work and would like to save money on labor by doing some stuff myself.  I am wondering if I can do some basic things like paint and refinishing hardwood floors while the other work is being done.  Does anybody have any experience with this type of situation?

Regards,

-Jerry

I am working a full 203k right now and i have been able to do some of the work. The work i am doing have no impact on the renovation performed by the GC. I was able to remove plaster on wall to expose bricks and i was able to strip the paint off of the existing banister/staircase to be repainted.

This might be something you need to talk to your GC about and see how flexible he is. Likely, if it effects his timelime, budget, capability of passing inspections, etc...you will have to take a back seat on the rehab.
