Which comes first- flooring or painting walls?

Question

Is there a specific order in which you should do the flooring and the painting?I need to tear up the carpets out and replace it with vinyl or hardwood. And, I also need to repaint the walls too.

It has already been answered above but always leave the floors for last.  However, you can easily paint after the floors are installed.  It just takes a little more prep time.

it depends on if your spraying or rolling. very bad idea to leave the carpets in if your using an airless sprayer. Also if your replacing your floor coverings with anything else than more carpet you're most likely not going to be able to paint the baseboard completely (at the bottom) with the carpet still there. if subfloor is the only thing underneath the carpet then what harm is there in getting the dirty carpet out first?

all ways leave the floors for last, keeps all of the crap off them. And cover them well if you are not doing anything to them.

When ever i do remodels that need both i always paint first.  That way no need for drop cloths and 1 less line to cut.

Paint the Walls first if you are redoing the floors, and if you are redoing the wood floors make sure you still cover the floor as you paint.
