How to blend luxury vinyl flooring scratches?!?

Hey everyone,

Recently installed dark wood colored floating LVF in our duplex and it turned out beautiful. Only problem is, the scratches are REALLY noticeable. Anyone have any cheap ways to cover up those light colored scratches on dark wood colored vinyl? THANKS!!!

So just to follow up to anyone who may have this issue down the line, I tried a bunch of different ways to make these scratches disappear, and honestly the most effective was the brown sharpie haha. What I did was draw over the scratch with the marker, then immediately wipe it with a paper towel before it dried. This way, the ink only filled the scratch and though it is not a perfect match, it is almost completely unnoticeable unless you're on your hands and knees.

Oh I see.  Actually, a sharpie isn't that bad if it's a rental. The point is to get it rented and look nice when showing.  If the scratches start showing up later the tenants can probably put a rug down or something.  As long as everything else is in decent shape you should be alright.Remember it's a rental!

I've done touch ups and things like that and they work wonders.  Floors- especially wood looking floors- often have scrapes, blemishes etc, sometimes it's part of the wood grain, other times it's from use and abuse.

I don't think for a rental it will be that bad to just touch up. Unless it's really high end and you're getting $3k+ rent per month then I'd worry ;)

Not a bad solution! I used silver Sharpie to fill in scrapes in my (plastic) car bumper and it looks like nothing happened. Maybe I'll bring a pack of colored sharpies (or crayons!) with me when I buy flooring, just to make sure I have a match. I bet a crayon in a glue gun could fill in quite a gouge.

I bet it would. I use a lot of these types of cosmetic touches on our rentals.  A colored crayon (stick of wax) is what carpenters use for knicks and dents on cabinets a lot

Would a brown crayon work?  Maybe the wax would fill the scratch as well.

Hey Will, thanks for the reply. The floors are a brand by floor and décor here in south florida, and color is dark walnut. Unfortunately they are dark enough that the brillow just makes a rough, light spot when I try that. Really just considering getting a dark brown sharpie at this point...

What brand do you have?

My allure and allure ultra floors I just scrub with a scotch or brillow pad until the scratch blends in.  Use water too.  If it's all over the floor throughout the duplex then you can get a mop with a sctoch/brillow pad and just lightly buff the surface.

It's worked for me on my rentals in past and I just use water with a couple drops of liquid dish soap
