I went to the post office to open a PO BOX and have like 50 different box number but for some reason I ended up picking BOX # 13. Next day tenant calls and is complaining about problem.

Would you keep P.O BOX 13, im second guessing my self on the luck of 13 and have no idea why I choose that one. All day I keep thinking if I should change it because I dont want bad luck with tenants. If I change it the lady at the desk will think im nuts or mabay I am... Just thought I would share it with you LOL

The first property I purchased was 113. I had similar (foolish) thoughts, that maybe my first home with the number 13 in it was a bad idea. Then I looked at the other properties for sale in the area and this one had the best view of the water so I closed on it. About 2 years later, the market exploded and it had almost doubled in value. I pulled $150K line of credit on it and started my real estate business. I kept that house and still own it today. It is one of my best performing rentals. I intend to hold it until the day they pry the deed from my cold, dead fingers.

Go ask owners of all the other boxes whether anything bad has ever happened to them.  If they all say yes, it's clear that all PO boxes are bad luck, and you should probably start doing all business by fax machine.

On second thought, the guy who invented the fax machine died (as have hundreds of millions of other people who have used fax machines), so I'd recommend steering clear of that technology.  Clearly more unlucky than PO boxes.

Sorry, I'm not sure there's a good solution here...

I'm a firm believer that "Luck" & "Karma" are total b.s. It's all in your head.

That said @Marcia Maynard makes a great point. It may very well be in the head of your potential customers. Change that bad boy to P.O. Box #7

If you look for something you will will see evidence of it everywhere.

Don't worry about bad luck.

When I was selling real estate in California, it was in my best interests to study Feng Shui, because, as has been pointed out already, EVERY home has something that someone can be superstitious about. And if it's not bad 'Chi', then it's the pool....  or the aspect.... or, or, or, ad infinitum.

#4 is very unlucky in many Asian countries. You can probably even find discounts (I don't necessarily mean in the states) for houses ending in 44, 24, 42...

And if the front door faces a staircase, that's also a deal breaker... If you believe in feng shui, good luck finding a house that satisfies all the criteria (there are a ton more). ;)

@James Wise  got me, I didn't look at it from that angle. People are funny.  I don't use my box for marketing so it never crossed my mind.

As far as Karma, I more meant that I do business a certain way because I feel it will do well by me in the future.

But even that is merely a self fulfilling prophecy because you will tend to do business with people like you on projects that you believe in.

I would recommend changing the number not for voodoo's sake, but to eliminate the chance that it could negatively impact what you are trying to do.

We have enough problems.

13 is just a number like any other number.  In fact, it's a little more "special" than numbers like 4, 6, or 8 because it's a prime number.

I would change it.  I would not pick #13 (unlucky number in the U.S.) or #4 (unlucky number in many Asian countries).  Consider your market.

A fear, whether real or perceived, can be a deal breaker for some people.  It may make some of your customers uncomfortable, as you have found out.  You can google lucky and unlucky numbers around the world.  May amuse you or may give you some insight.  #13 is lucky in some countries.
