Well a year ago today I was a 18 year old kid , lived with his mother, In a small town in Southern Ontario. After finishing highschool and spending a year messing around with Grocery Store jobs and Call Centres I decided to make a drastic step and move out of the home I have lived in for 18 years and move across the country to Alberta. The only place where I could find a high paying job with little education.

Well July 22 of 2006 I had a one way ticket to Edmonton Alberta, I soon found a job at a Road Construction company and bought myself a gas saver car (Geo Metro).. I have myself on a tight budget of 1900 Dollars a month to live, stay, eat, entertainment.. and 4000 going into savings a month.

Have I caught the real estate investing bug? I save EVERY penny, I buy in bulk and spend 15 dollars a week on grocerys/lunches. Never buy anything on credit card (only gas to build credit) I have a Geo Metro to save fuel costs, 20 dollars a tank/week... I frown upon teenagers buying new cars and financing things just to be "cool"

Currently I am renting a 1 bedroom apartment, I was planning on buying out here in the big housing boom but it is leveling off and it very unstable so I am now going to purchase back home in Ontario come november next time I go home for a visit and rent it out.

If all goes well I will have 35-45 thousand cash a year in savings for downpayments on properties, I plan to move home in 3-5 years...

It was the best decision I ever made in my life, Sure I work 70 hour weeks, But I wake up every morning knowing I am in absoulutly no DEBT and saving everything I can to pursue REI and become able to live off rental property cashflow.

Am I normal?
