Using an Agent vs Direct to owner (listed actively on MLS)

Might be a silly question. What is the easiest way to make an offer on a property that is listed on the MLS. Do you suggest a real estate agent since the seller pays for it or going direct?

I might have just answered my own question by asking it. LOL
