Good Locations to Buy in DFW

Hi all,

I'm a new real estate investor in the DFW area. I'm beginning my search for single family homes to purchase somewhere in the region. I currently live in Plano, TX, so the closer I can grab a deal to Plano the better. However, I am open to purchasing properties as far as Fort Worth. Being so new to the area, however, I still do not know which specific areas or neighborhoods around DFW that are good locations in which to buy (low crime, good schools nearby, fair rent, etc.). Any advice or suggestions on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

@Scott Reese, from my very limited experience (only one property and in the process of buying a second one)... my 2 cents...

- BP is a great way to ask for advice and get ideas; however you are not going to really know until you get to actually talk or meet real estate agents.

- I heard somewhere (anyone can correct if I'm wrong): don't get talk with just one, but talk with 2 or 3 or 4 realtors, the more network the more likely that someone will bring you a deal...

- Make sure you your realtor has experience with investors... there is a huge difference there only

- Property Managers are super valuable: think about this not all realtors work with investors, almost all property managers work with investors, out of State investors; have already a network, many of them have also a real estate license, etc.

- "low crime, good schools nearby, fair rent, etc." Unless you are going to do this full time you don't need to know "everything", let the people who work with you do that for you.

- I have met already a couple of guys from this site, and I think they are very helpful, patient and knowledgeable...
