New windows for 50 year old ranch style

Looking at windows for a residential upper end neighborhood not top of line but quality value. Milgard first came to mind and maybe will fit the bill but looking at other brands. I know builders using them but some builder quality not always the best. Understand different levels same brands with different series so gets a little complicated. Any educated opinions greatly appreciated.

Are you doing a full replacement or retro-fit windows (where you don't mess with the siding and drywall)?
