New To Investing.... How to get the significant other on board???

Question

I have been a Realtor for the past 4 years helping others get their 1st time homes and dream homes.  Now I want to get into investing, have some knowledge from listening to bigger pockets pod casts. Biggest hurdle I have now is getting the significant other on board.  Any info, suggestions, books, etc. etc. that can help will be appreciated!

@Dan Guenther, thanks for the info.  I will definitely try and put a small portfolio with a few "potential deals" and present it to the wifey!  Hopefully that will be able to ease her fears and possibly get her at least halfway on board.  I think its the whole getting over the fear thing and that she is going to need to see results before she is comfortable with the investing idea.  She also will have to be educated on how to get financing as well.  Right now she is under the impression that we need to save up money ourselves before we can even think about purchasing another property.

I’d suggest starting out by networking with as many other investors as possible and be an active participant in the forums.

My suggestion for getting the significant other on board is using raw numbers. I use different excel sheets for different types of rental properties. Find a potential investment property, or any property on the MLS. Enter the numbers into the calculator with projected rents, expenses, etc. Visually seeing the potential returns after 1, 5, 10 years is a huge eye opener to anyone that may be questioning taking the step into investing.
