Hello from Portland, Oregon

Hi BP Community,

My name is Josh Brown, I am 28 years old, living right outside of Portland, OR in town called Tualatin, however, I am looking to relocate to Portland very soon. I work in capital equipment sales for a laser systems manufacturer...yes I sell lasers, and no these lasers aren't nearly as cool as these sound :)

I graduated Oregon State in Business and Entrepreneurship (Go Beavs!). I have always thought of myself as entrepreneurial, starting multiple businesses during college and after college an indoor tennis complex and fitness center. I am always interested in business ventures and real estate has especially peaked my interest.

I began looking into real estate investing to prepare myself for my first home purchase and soon found it to be very intriguing and now view it at minimum as a major investing avenue and likely a soon to be business. I have read/listened to a few dozen books on investing, listened to lots of podcasts and spent time networking at local meetups and attending open houses.

Currently I am looking for my first home purchase, hopefully in the Portland area. This will likely be a single-family with an unfinished basement or small multi-family that needs some work. I plan to fix it up while living in it, rent the other units/basement and flip it after a year or two or hold it as a rental.

Also, I am game for any networking or meetup opportunities around Portland or online, if you are experienced or not I am always interested in grabbing coffee or a beer. Although, I don't have much real estate experience I do have years of business, sales and marketing experience...the marketing being something I am passionate about and hoping to use to my advantage in real estate.

So far I haven't spent a lot of time on BP, but I plan to a lot more. It keeps me excited about this industry and the information is beyond excellent.
