Looking for a mentor

Bedford Roberts
Posted

Hello my name is Bedford and I just recently turned 20 last month. This is my first time posting on the bigger pockets form although I have listen to the podcast and been signed up for years now. Now that I’m a little older I can take my future into my own hands With a firmer grasp. I have recently gained around 45k off of my cryptocurrency investments and I’m looking to run up as much as I can before the end of this year. My goal is to why a duplex or a four flat and house Hack it with my girlfriend. I live in the Chicago area and I am open and willing to learn from anyone in the area who knows about the real estate game. My ultimate goal is to become financially free and I feel like I have the foundation and the knowledge to get there I just need a little help when it comes to guidance because I am new to this and I own no properties. Just looking for some knowledge and a little guidance and your reply’s would help me a ton. So what is the best course of action when it comes to buying your first property? Thank you.

@Bedford Roberts - Welcome to the club!  BP Chicago that is haha.  That's awesome that you were able to come up on some cash through crypto, I wish I had that foresight!

House hacking is by far the best strategy to get started in my opinion and much easier if you are younger without children (not that it can't be done but a little more sacrifice required).  If you are just trying to get going and focused on Chicago make sure to check out @Mark Ainley 's Chicago investor focused podcast:  https://www.straightupchicagoi...

The one thing I've always found about mentors is that they have come organically.  I always try to focus on adding value before thinking about anything else.....understand how you can help them and then, your mentors come out of the woodwork.
